November is the month to remember and celebrate all the things we are thankful for. It’s a time to be with family and just enjoy the company of loved ones. For The Learning Tree Preschool, it is a great way to teach the children the importance of giving and sharing with others. While we enjoy our hosting a Thanksgiving day feast, we also enjoy sharing with those in need of some assistance. Every year, The Learning Tree donates non-perishable items to reputable food banks. This year, we will be asking for donations of food the entire month of November. All donations will go to the Alameda County Food Bank which distributes food throughout Alameda County. We felt it was important to come together as a school for the entire month to gather as much food as we can to benefit those close to home. We are encouraging families to not only donate what they can, but to include their neighbors in the donation process. If each family distributed one grocery bag to each of their neighbors, we could have enough food to feed over 200 families!
At The Learning Tree, we feel that it is never too early to start teaching children the benefits of helping others. We encourage them not only to be aware of their own environment, but to think of those in surrounding areas. Toddlers and Preschoolers can learn so much by giving to those in need. We hope that the lessons they learn now will resonate throughout their life and into adulthood.
