Houston, TX – Competitive Marketing by Geotargeting

Facility Rental in Houston, TXOne of our recent clients gave us a new problem to solve.

Camp Lantern Creek is a camp facility rental that is a great location for any kind of group retreats based just outside Montgomery, TX but they wanted to target Houston, TX for all their advertisements.

Google shows them as being in Montgomery which is correct but the people who live in that town are not the people they are trying to attract.

The target market for them would be any group wanting to do some form of corporate team building activities or or church and school retreats who just need a facility to rent.

In order to make this happen we did 2 things.

1 – A Local Office

The owner of the camp has an office in the city so we used that for a lot of local directories in order to get the local presence set as being based in Houston.

This helps them get the geotargeted traffic to the their site and anyone using “Houston” in the search will find them.

2 – Proper Keywords

Most corporate team building managers or church and school retreat managers who are looking for facility rentals are looking outside their city so we had to make sure the keywords included a fair use of the word Houston.

This allows for the camp in Montgomery to show up for searches done in Houston.

3 – Pay Pay Click Advertising

Most groups geotarget their ads to a radius around their location but we targeted the greater city of Houston with the radius point being in the middle of the city.

Now their ads show up to anyone in the city who meets their criteria for facility rentals even though their retreat location is not in greater Houston.

The main idea is that if you market from one city to another you need to build a plan on how to do it and then stick to the plan since SEO is really a long term strategy.
