This series picks back up on how to start and compete in a competitive market. As a quick recap:
Part 1 was about: Know who your competition is.
Part 2 was about: Research the details of your competition.
We are building on those ideas. Here is the next main idea.
Establish your keyword list.
Keywords are the basis for everything you do to market online. Think of Keywords like how real estate uses the phrase, “Location, location, location.” Now it’s, “Keywords, keywords, keywords.” A bit corny but you get the idea.
For a definition, Keywords are the search terms that people put into a search engine when they are looking for information online.
Chances are people aren’t going to search your name or your company name. We can include those in our list but they aren’t very helpful.
I am using my home buying business as my example so my keyword list includes but is not limited to:
- Sell my house
- Quick house sale
- Sell my house fast
- Stop foreclosure
- Cash offer on my house
- Buy my house
Quick Tip: write the keywords as if you were the one searching. “Buy your house” and “sell my house” aren’t the same thing even though it’s just a perspective change.
There are tons of ways to research what Keywords you should use but use your list from the 2nd post in this series and see what your competitors rank for and that will give you a good idea of keywords you need to use.
Competing in a competitive market is all about the long haul. Do your due diligence and it will pay off.
Keywords can get complicated so if you want some help you can see our process for getting keywords here.
We will pick back on this series in the next article.
