Houston, TX – How to start competing online in a competitive market p1

BY: James Walters, Click and Create

New business and product ideas abound. You want your piece of the cash pie. I mean who doesn’t?

Competitive markets are pre-existing markets that sell products/services that are already known and that other companies are known for those products/services.

As a side project I wanted to get into real estate investing.

I started 77 Realty Solutions as a home buying company in order to purchase distressed properties. Seems like a great business but it’s so common that everyone is doing it.

This is a highly competitive market and that is an understatement. I decided I would market on the web but so did everyone else.

Each article I will give you an idea that builds on the previous idea.

Know who your competition is.

I Googled a lot of terms like “sell my house fast” in order to determine who are the other players in this market. I noticed that Google showed me results for cities outside of where I was interested in buying houses. I don’t want national results but just local results.

“I buy houses Houston” is much better than, “I buy houses.” Since we aren’t looking for keywords it’s ok to make your searches very specific. We are just getting names and URLs of competitors.

The big guns are on Page 1. Page 2 shows you the ones trying to compete and Page 3 shows you who is trying to get in the game.

In order to ever get on page 1, I need to beat out the page 3 results and then the page 2 results.

Mine is a new domain but some of these domains have been around for 15 years. Massive amounts of work have been put into these so I have my work cut out for me.

Knowing who are going up against is always the first start. Might seem like pointless work but this is what starts to separate you from the fly-by-night groups.

I will pickup this series in the next post.
