Insignia Signs loves unique jobs that allow us to think “outside the box” – so when Joe with Olin asked us for decals on poker chips – we loved it! We had done a similar project for a co-worker of his and he thought they were a great idea, and decided to order poker chips for his branch too.
The design for these poker chips would be the same as the last order, so approving the artwork was a quick process. The next step was deciding on a quantity – Joe decided he wanted 300 black chips, 700 red chips, and 500 blue chips. Insignia Signs supplied not only the decals & decal placement – but the poker chips too! Each poker chip had a decal on both sides – so we had a total of 1,500 chips that needed a total of 3,000 decals – we had work to do!
We printed the poker chips with our HP Latex printer, using a 54″ Briteline Digital Vinyl. Once printed, we laminated the poker chips. The reason we laminate all of our digital prints is to ensure they are waterproof and the graphic will never fade. The Latex ink is the best ink in the industry but the lamination makes it even better. Once laminated, we then loaded the printed material into our Graphtec Plotter. Proper loading into the plotter is essential to ensure a perfect cut around each decal – we use a 56″ ruler to line up the crop marks perfectly, then send the cut file from the computer to the plotter. The plotter reads the four crop marks around the entire print area and cuts where the contour cut was marked, which in this case, is around each of the 3,000 decals.
The decals were then applied to each individual chip, with a different design on the front and the back. The great thing about these poker chips is that they are fun, grab attention, and get a message across. Insignia Signs does a large amount of promotional products similar to these, vinyl is very versatile!
If you know any company who would like to take a creative approach – we’d love if you told them to give Insignia Signs a call!
