Insignia Signs recently received a unique request – a customer needed basketball court vinyl striped in someone’s home. We are always up for a challenge! Our customer was Carlos with Lewis K. Construction. Lewis K Construction is an organization built on service, quality and dedication. They specialize in General Construction, Design and Build, Construction Management, Special Consulting, and Asphalt Maintenance & Paving. The company was founded in 1998 by Kevin Lewis and focuses on luxury residential and commercial projects of all shapes, sizes and styles.
The home they built in the Las Vegas Valley was a 23,748 square foot home and included an indoor basketball court. Carlos asked if Insignia would be able to strip the basketball court and we were excited to take on this job. The first step was determining the best vinyl to use. The vinyl had to be a non-slip floor vinyl with an industrial length non-slip laminate. The laminate’s purpose was to protect the vinyl and be easily cleaned. We decided to use an Avery floor vinyl because it’s great for interior or exterior decals and has an outdoor durability of 6 years so we knew it’d be great for the wear & tear of a basketball court.
Carlos’s customer wanted to use sizing of NCAA half court basketball striping so we very carefully had to following these measurements:
The vinyl was in stock, the design was completed & approved – the next step was laminating the vinyl and cutting it. We had to splice the vinyl since the court was so large, but used a seam sealer anywhere the lines connected to ensure they would never pull up. We laminated the vinyl and loaded into our 55″ Graphtec Laminator. We then sent all of the stripes to plotter and they were cut and “weeded” – ready for installation!
The installation of the vinyl, done by Dean & Jeremy, took about 4 hours and was done perfectly. The owner was very happy with the basketball court vinyl and is ready go shoot some hoops!
