Hey mom, if you’re like me you’re probably always sourcing and looking for resources to help you get more “me time.” In order to get some “me time” start by asking for help and becoming the Queen of Deligation.
My family’s very involved in helping with all the domestic duties in my household, but there was a time when that wasn’t so. One of the things that I did is to step up and ask for help. Doing that took me a while to figure out. Once I figured it out, I got really good at delegating.
Here’s how I communicated my needs:
- It wasn’t “oh, will you help me with………?”
- It was “here’s how you’re gonna help around here, pull your own weight.”
In order to help you delegate your endless “to-do”, I’m share a wonderful resource I just found. It’s free it’s a printable document is called the Great chore audit. You can print it out, and share it with your family. It will help you audit the workload.
You may not be delegting right now, so I’m advocating that you start sharing your mother-load with the family. Talk it through together. It’s really helpful to highlight all that needs to get done. Moms tend to do 15 hours more a week in chores. When I read all the stats about how moms handle so much more it just breaks my heart.
This is a new year. Time is a non-renewable resource. You owe it to yourself to start speaking up, and requiring others to help and share the load. When your family starts to participate more, you’ll get to take a deep breath. Imagine how you’ll be able to rest, restore and rejuvinate yourself. Just think of all the wonderful things you’ll get to do with more “me time.” It makes me so happy to dream into it with you.
