The New Biden/Harris Administration Sends Much Needed Help To Single Moms Who Are Struggling

I've been paying close attention to the new administration, and how it's stepping up quickly to help families in need, especially single moms. I'm so happy to see how they've been implementing quick actions to help families who lack the resources to provide basic needs, especially food. Two programs will get a jump-start, the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) and the P-EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer. I spend time every day envisioning a time, in the near future, where families have all the support they need: housing, food, childcare, continued education, good paying jobs, leisure time to rest, restore and rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit.

When Families Have Their Basic Needs Met, They Can Focus On Better Mental And Physical Health

Nationally, 1 out of 7 families report they're struggling to put food on the table. It's even more dire for families of color, with 1 out of 5 not meeting their basic needs. I think of all the kids who are already having the hardest time having to learn online, and then to be hungry on top of it...it just breaks my heart.

If You're In A Better Place Find Ways To Support Your Community

My family and I have been fortunate. We have our basic needs are met, so it's been so important to me to teach my two boys how to volunteer and give back. We regularly make bag lunches to give out. I've volunteered through my local Head Start Program. I'm active in my community with local projects. Helping out has helped my mental state. It's easy, during difficult times, but when you get in action you'll feel like you're making a difference. If you're in a good place, please find ways to get involved. It's doesn't have to be big and bold, it can be small, meaningful actions. Please, do what you can, if you can. We all need each other right now.
