Postpartum Massage Available in the East Bay

A new mother’s life completely changes after she welcomes her new baby into the world. Between the lack of sleep, constant stress of parenting and stresses of everyday life, there is often no time to think about your own needs as a new mom. In order to best care for your family, you must also care for yourself, and there is no better way to do so than to seek our professional massage therapy.

As a certified massage therapist in the East Bay, I have worked with people in every stage of life. It’s my passion to help people thrive and meet their overall health goals by offering massage therapy, and I have worked with many new mothers to help them through the stressors of welcoming a new baby.

In the sections to follow, I will give a brief overview of my services for new moms and why it’s important to seek massage care from an experienced professional. If you are a new mother, I would be happy to answer any additional questions you might have and help determine if postpartum massage therapy is right for you.

Prioritizing Your Comfort and Safety

Many new mothers are conscious of their own safety after giving birth. There are several activities which should be done with caution or not done at all directly following childbirth, especially if you have a c-section. When I work with new mothers, I always take extra precaution to ensure their comfort. Usually a postpartum massage is done at lighter intensity with long, relaxing strokes to promote healing and relaxation. While your comfort should dictate when a massage is best, for c-section moms the waiting period is usually 4 – 6 weeks and it’s best to ask your doctor before receiving a massage.

Mental Health Boost

The time immediately following childbirth is filled with a wide range of emotions. Obviously moms feel an immense amount of joy, love and happiness, but these happy feelings are often met with anxiety, stress and exhaustion. Postpartum mental health has become a top priority of medical care professionals, and mental health struggles among new moms are all too common. A massage is a medically proven way to boost your mental health and can be a lifesaver for new moms. By promoting relaxation, providing a safe, quiet space and improving blood flow, a massage can be the mental health boost a new mom needs to thrive.

Address Physical Issues

In a similar fashion to the way your body changes leading up to childbirth, there are also many changes after the baby arrives. On top of stress-related muscle tightness, childbirth can leave a body hurting in multiple ways. During a postpartum massage, I always try to address my clients’ unique ailments and provide a pain-free path forward into motherhood.

If you want to ensure you can stay sharp mentally, recover physically and prioritize care for yourself as a new mom, a massage can be exactly what you need. To learn more, check out my website or give me a call today to book your session.
