After experiencing a traumatic event, it can be hard to go about your daily activities and feel like yourself again. Many people search for ways to find relief after a traumatic event, and for a lot of victims of trauma, massage therapy can help them in multiple ways.

I am a massage therapist located in the East Bay and I offer a full catalog of services to cater to anyone’s needs. While it’s my life’s work to help anyone who needs a massage to relax, find relief from common pain or aid in their physical recovery, I have a deep passion for using my services to help victims of trauma overcome the event and feel like themselves again.

Aftercare for trauma is a delicate service, and I am here to help every step of the way. I have worked with several trauma victims over the years, and I am happy to report on the amazing progress which can be found through massage therapy.

A person who has experienced trauma has a propensity to be more tense, to have difficulty sleeping and could have anxiety being around others or responding to physical touch. Massage can help each of these areas when administered by a professional, and in the sections to follow I will discuss the techniques I use to help my patients achieve a level of comfort and recovery through massage therapy.

Low Pressure

Many people assume massages must be done with a great deal of pressure on certain body parts, but there are several techniques which can provide real relief with very little pressure applied. When dealing with trauma victims, I always establish a dialogue and tailor their service to their feelings and go at their pace.

Comfortable Clothing

Another misconception about massage therapy is it must be done with little clothing on. As you can imagine, this can be problematic for some trauma victims. Luckily, there are many ways we can make a positive impact through massage with the client fully clothed and wearing what makes them feel best.

Simple, Effective Techniques

Massages can be done on any part of the body, and for trauma victims my main concern is about performing techniques they are comfortable with. On many occasions, a trauma massage will begin with a simple massage of the hands or feet, with the client seated comfortably in a relaxed environment. Shoulder or neck massages can also be incorporated with low pressure to help ease them into relief. Even though a hand, foot, shoulder or neck massage might seem trivial, the act of the massage can help them feel relief and is an important step in their recovery.

Continued Building of Trust

The foundation of successful massage therapy for trauma victims is trust, and I work to earn the trust of any person who chooses me as their therapist. I always go at the pace of my clients and encourage open and honest feedback so we can find the ideal treatment to help them feel comfortable.

If you have undergone a traumatic event or have a loved one recovering from trauma, I want to help. To learn more or book your consultation, browse my website or give me a call today.
