Holy smokes, what a hot idea!
Holy Smokes Colorado in Castle Rock, Colorado is a new business that offers something that not many other businesses do.
As you might expect from a name like Holy Smokes and from their logo (seen in the image above) is that they offer BBQ catering to those who want to bring a unique twist to some good old fashion BBQ at any party or event.
But what you might not expect, are two things:
One, they sell pellet-style BBQs and accessories – the same type that are used to produce their award winning BBQ. And two, they offer classes on how to cook real BBQ. If you’re in the dark when it comes to cooking BBQ and you really want to learn how to cook great BBQ, then you can either try reading about it, or you can take a more “hands on” approach and enroll in a class at Holy Smokes!
Holy Smokes Colorado is a business with “…BBQ specialty experts. (They) have been in the business of BBQ for over 10 years, from competition to catering to buying and selling.”
THE PROJECT:
Holy Smokes opened their new business in a location that used to sell pizza. So, one of their most important tasks was to get the old sign taken out, and get a new sign put in right away!
After redesigning their logo, we printed and laminated a special backlit vinyl made specifically for backlit building signs and mounted it on a sign-grade polycarbonate panel. It was then placed in the existing 3′ tall by 8′ wide lighted cabinet frame. These types of signs are durable and offer high visual impact.
Obstacle:
Their logo was portrait-style in orientation. Their logo, like the picture above, was tall and not wide enough to fill the sign cabinet space. If we had sized their logo to fit the sign cabinet, there would have been a lot of white space around the logo.
Solution:
We took elements from their existing logo and adapted the graphical elements to the dimensions of the sign cabinet.
The result came out great.
