PROJECT: Food Truck Restoration and Graphics Project for Sweet Emily’s BBQ – Erie, CO
WOW!
Talk about a restoration project!
Sweet Emily’s BBQ, located at the Conoco Station in Erie, CO, at highways 52 & I-25, is a ‘hot’ looking food truck that serves up some of the best BBQ in the area. They called us about helping them transform an old truck they found at a junk yard, into the ‘hot’ looking truck in the image above.
This is truly a transformation story! The owner found this little truck in a junk yard. Take a look at the image below. It was nothing but a tired old truck that had long since gone out of commission. The owner completely stripped it, then painted it black, before the flame graphics and company name were applied. He also stripped the entire inside of the truck, and then retrofitted it with smokers for their BBQ.
One small obstacle we ran into was the newly applied paint. Paint takes a long time to completely dry and cure in the sun. The paint ‘gases’ out fumes from the paint until it is completely dry. This is important because we can’t apply the vinyl graphics until the paint has fully ‘gassed out.’
Once we applied a test patch of the vinyl on the paint, after 45 days in the Colorado sun, we were confident the paint had cured, and was now ready for wrapping.
HISTORY:
This BBQ food truck is named for the owner’s granddaughter, Emily. It is parked in the parking lot of the Conoco Station at State Highway 52 and I-25 in Erie and ready to serve up amazing BBQ!
