There is such a bar in Oceanside. Where a group of locals meet to drink, relax, and socialize. Where most never go. Most do not even know. You just have to be in the know to know where to go. Until now
Maxdon’s Pub fits Oceanside like a favorite coat. It is hidden in a strip mall near El Camino Real and the 78. After many years, it is being forced out of that location. It was one of the original tenants there, but the whole complex will be razed and rebuilt in the next couple of years.
Here are a couple of pictures of a channel letter sign we finished last week Maxdon’s Pub. It is relocating to El Camino Real and Mission in Oceanside. The best way to find it to look for the sign. Reopening in Mid August. (Hey that is like 10 days a way!!)

Would you like a little bar room trivia to amaze your friends about your knowledge of this sign?
Bet one drink on each of these questions and you will need a ride home.
Question 1: How many individual signs make up the MAXDON’S PUB Channel Letter set? You would think that MAXDON’S PUB would have a total of 11 signs, one for each letter and one for the apostrophe – you would be wrong!
Answer: The A and X are connected and so are the P and the U. These were physically so close in the design – we joined them like siamese twins.
Question 2: The lovely lady next to you is wearing a skirt, are there any others, human or non-human, wearing skirts at Maxdon’s?

Answer: After your buds have scanned the bar and told you no. Tell them YES, The letters on the Maxdon Sign are wearing a black Acrylic mini skirt to highlight their shapely form.
Question 3: What is the color of the sign face? This is tricky, but come on what is the color, you saw it when you came in – what was the color?
Answer: Most will say red, or burgundy, or maybe orange – all OK answers, but there is a trick. The color in the letters does not go all the way to the edges – It stops short and the letters are red and…. White!
Question 4: Why are there 2 colors on the
channel letter sign?
Answer: This is a technical answer and is “giwiz” answer too. The darker the color the less light comes through. You never see black channel letters at night because light does not come through a true black. A red channel letter sign will not be as bright as a white channel letter sign, so, by leaving a small amount of white around the letters the brightness is increased and the sign pops!

Last Question: Bet this one for the cab fair to go back home, you are 4 drinks to the good and you don’t need the DUI. Who did Maxdon call to put up their sign?
Last Answer: Signs for san Diego. We are a licensed electrical sign contractor. We run our own installation crew. We have in-house design. We pull all the correct permits and manage these projects through to completion.
