Monument signs are great for schools, churches, business building and campus, The local governments of Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos and Vista also favor Monument Signs above other types of signs in their signage ordinates. Monuments look like a part of the community and less like a temporary sign. It appears to the passerby more attractive, stable and is a great way to identify your business Pole signs are often not allowed. In the post WWII permitting through the early 1980s the pole sign was common and used in most sections of Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Vista. Monument Sign traditionally are made of brick, concrete or Stone with Wood and Metal on the outside faces. These are expensive and massive construction projects. They required many labor hours and thousands of pounds of materials. Over time they tended to settle and crack, they were targets for taggers and they were not easy to update. Modern Monument Signs have a totally different construction. Today the construction looks the same, but it is not.  If you walk up to a Monument sign you make not realize most are molded foam with a heavy plastic like skin. They resist impacts, paint, weathering and hold no interest for termites and animals.  Without wood there is no wood rot and without the massive height settling and cracking is not longer and issue. Newer Monument Sign Construction is not effected by the weather or environment These Monument Signs never corrode, rot, fade, or grow moss. They are durable and resistive to most of the problems their older brothers had. These signs will even take a minor collision or hammer blow without damage. Modern monument signs come with a replaceable face. This means when tenants change the face is changed over inexpensively and quickly. About 40% of the newer Monument Signs have this feature. Installing a modern monument sign is easy. The site must be prepared with two concrete footers. These require digging, and pouring the concrete. Most cases there are 2 poles placed in the footers. The Monument Sign has 2 small round holes through the bottom and into the core. The sign is lifted up and dropped into place. The footers still take time, but the sign itself takes about an hour. This saves time and money. Wood grain look is desirable? If you want that California red Wood look, but don’t want to use wood – We have that look too!!  With modern synthetic materials we can simulates that look. You will need to really look to see the difference, but the insects, wood rot and fade just don’t happen. Beauty without the maintenance or use of a tree. Monument signs today are very different from the past. 1) The manufacture is better. Using modern materials makes them lighter, cheaper and weather resistant. 2) North County cities of Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista strongly favor Monument Signs over the older Pol Signs.
