Having an up to date lobby sign is essential for visitors to not only verify that they are in the right building, but it helps to identify where they need to go. Northpoint Medical Arts was working on some projects with TF Resources and when it came time to redo their lobby directory sign, they reached out to Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions to help them achieve their new lobby directory sign vision.
Northpoint Medical Arts, also known as Northpoint Cancer Center, provides cutting edge oncology treatment with professional and friendly staff. They know that fighting cancer is a tough journey, but they strive to ensure their patients always feel welcome and respected during their treatment.
To achieve the new vision for their lobby sign, they wanted to keep the existing glass lobby panel, but they envisioned etched glass vinyl with reverse cut graphics. The lobby directory sign they had before was done with black cut vinyl letters on the glass. Over time some of the letters had been scratched off and some of the offices had changed name or locations. They liked the softer, modern look of etched glass. They also wanted to go with reverse cut graphics thereby creating some more privacy from the other side of the glass and allowing the vinyl graphics to visually breakup each floor listing. During our consultation, we took multiple photo and measurements of the glass panel while getting an updated list of all the tenants and their suite numbers. We also verified the font and text of the lobby directory sign that they wanted Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions to use. We then returned to our offices to create the new design for their approval. We created the layout of the 64” wide lobby directory sign with 40 lines of reverse cut etched glass vinyl each 1.5” tall. We allowed for a small gap between each line to make it easier for the reader’s eye to follow. We also added a vertical gap on each side of the widest etched glass vinyl graphics to make updating the directory easier if ever changes were needed. With the design approved by the Northpoint Medical, our team got to work cutting, weeding and prepping the etched glass vinyl graphics for installation. On the day of the install, our team arrived and got work cleaning and prepping the glass panel for the new etched glass window graphics. The multi-step process involves removing all the existing black vinyl graphics by hand and then a deep clean to remove any dust and debris that is stuck to the residual adhesive. It seems excessive to all these steps, but if the glass is not perfectly clean and dry, the new vinyl graphics will not adhere properly and as etched glass vinyl is translucent, anything stuck on the glass could show through. With the glass clean and prepped, out installation team was ready to quickly install the new reverse cut etched glass vinyl graphics creating the lobby directory sign. The results are exactly what the customer was looking for, and now their visitors can easily verify which floor they need when they arrive.
