J Evans Properties was looking to have their existing monument sign have some dimensional letters installed on it. They had met Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions while we were installing a pan sign at the KidStrong location in McKinney, Texas. Knowing our professionalism and great work we do, they did not hesitate to pick up the phone and get us to work.

During our conversation about the look they wanted for the letters on their monument sign, they explained they wanted black acrylic letters that stood off the face of the monument sign to bring depth. However, during our site survey we discovered that the face of the monument sign was two layers of metal in a cabinet and that the back panel had been cut with a router to support the previously installed letters. With this hidden cut out surface, we would not be able to use a stub mounting technique to install the new letters. We came up with a plan to get the 12” tall black acrylic letters to appear sub mounted. The acrylic letters were cut out of 1/4” thick acrylic and to those we secured smaller versions of the letters but cut them out of ½” thick clear acrylic. These two level letters were then installed onto the monument sign using a special double sided tape along with a silicon adhesive to ensure they would not fall off. J Evans Properties were very pleased with the results, and now their monument sign at Hwy 121 and Parkwood Blvd proudly displays the property’s name for both their tenants and the public who are visiting the shopping and dining area.
