Having completed the channel letter sign for Mexican Cactus Taco Bar, Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions has been working on the indoor signs they need before their opening. The next signage needs they had included menu boards, a wall mural, their monument sign and a hanging ceiling sign.
Mexican Cactus Taco Bar is a new restaurant opening in Allen, Texas. Chef Isaac wanted to share his family recipes, free of chemicals and antibiotics, that were passed down to him by his grandmother while he grew up in Guanajuato, Mexico. These are the most authentic and delicious street tacos you will taste in North Dallas, and don’t forget the awesome margaritas too!
This monument sign has 2 tenant inserts for Mexican Cactus. One is installed on each side of the monument sign.
The first item to complete was their monument sign. People need to know that your business is in a complex or plaza. We created two acrylic inserts for their monument sign. Both signs were 13”x 64” and were created with printed vinyl on translucent acrylic. Now people driving along North Watters Road can see which plaza Mexican Cactus is located.
This lightweight sign is hung with a loop line system and attached to the ceiling frame using magnets.
Next, we got to work on the hanging sign for the restrooms. With tall open ceilings, they wanted a hanging sign to help fill the space of the narrow hallway where the restrooms are located. We made the hanging ceiling sign out of printed vinyl on ultraboard. Ultraboard is very light and cost effective. Best of all it is smooth unlike chloroplast which shows its lines running the length if the sign even when vinyl is applied to it. We printed the vinyl with the font and color used by the restaurant to further drive their brand awareness and applied the laminated vinyl directly to the ultraboard. We then added grommets that allowed us to install the hanging sign directly to the ceiling framework using a magnet and loop line system. This system is ideal because the measured loops guarantee a level hanging sign, and the magnets make installation, re-positioning, and removal of the sign a breeze with no damage to the walls or ceiling.
These articulating menu board signs can be moved around and easily updated as needed.
The next project was the menu boards. To create these custom menu boards, we started with recreating the design on the personal menus and then printed the design onto three 30” x 40” SYNAPS material. This was a particularly challenging process as they did not have the digital file with their menu on it. We wanted the menu boards signs to match their brand and logo, so our design team had to completely design each item. SYNAPS is a synthetic polyester film that is durable, can be cleaned with a wet cloth, and can easily be replaced if necessary. To display these printed menus, we installed them into snap edge frames that were connected to articulating TV wall mounts. This allows the menu boards signs to be moved and redirected if needed.

The final project to complete before the grand opening was the wall mural. Bringing some fun and color to the space, our design team created the 100” x 160” wall mural based off a sample piece of wallpaper that they liked. We scanned and scaled some fun quotes and printed the final product onto vinyl before applying a matte laminate. The wall mural adds a wonderful fun element to the space and provides a great opportunity for customers to grab a few selfies.
