“Helloooo! What floor are you going to?”
The Council of Loyd Commons at SMU of Dallas wanted to promote their resident mascot in a way that had never been done on campus before. They found Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions online and reached out to us to see if we could create a one of a kind elevator graphic for them.
Loyd Commons is an on campus residence at SMU Dallas that is home to 241 students. This building was opened in August of 2014 and the Council Executive Board plans various events during the school year to engage their residents.
A unique use for printed vinyl, elevator graphics are being installed in business and public spaces everywhere. They can be temporary to promote an upcoming event, or permanent to identify what floor you are on, a floor directory or reinforce brand awareness and company culture. The Council at Loyd Commons want to showcase their mascot “Tina the Llama” on their elevator graphic. They have a digital image file of their llama with a beautiful view of Machu Picchu, Peru in the background. They also liked this image because with the angle of the llama’s neck, it looked like Tina was poking her head out from the side of the elevator. We had them measure the elevator door and give us the dimensions they wanted for the elevator graphic. We also had them verify that the university was on board with the installation of the elevator graphic before we got to work producing the project. Once they had permission, our production team was able to quickly print, laminate and the matte vinyl elevator graphic image of Tina the Llama. The graphic was prepped for installation and we contact Loyd Commons and made arrangements to get their custom elevator graphic installed. We planned to complete the install of the elevator graphic during a time when classes were in session. We wanted to have as little traffic as possible in the building because the elevator could not be in use while our team did their work. The Council was well prepared and placed a member at the elevator door on the four other floors while we installed the elevator graphic on the first floor door. This was a very easy installation that took less than 10 minutes to fully complete, from set up, to cleaning, to install. Now Loyd Commons has a cute and funny elevator graphic of their mascot Tina. What an excellent and fun way to use brand awareness!
