Most companies start off in a small office space and make do with the decor they have. As they grow they begin to add a few pieces of furniture as needed. When they are finally ready to move in a space, they are ready to call their “forever office space”, they want to make sure they get a feel, vibe and look in their space that is a true reflection of their company. Some are hip, some are chic, some are minimalists, others are opulent or warm and rich. No matter the decor vision, making sure the identification signs match the vibe is where we come into the design picture. Texas Pacific Land Trust recently moved their office space in downtown Dallas and was looking for office and name identification plates that would match the particular look and feel of their new space. They had been in touch with some other sign shops, but no one was able to understand their vision. While doing some online searching, they found Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions and reached out to see if we could help them. During a brief telephone conversation they liked what we had to say so they come in for a consultation.
Texas Pacific Land Trust was created 131 years ago with 3.5 million acres of Texas land. Today they own around 888,333 acres of land throughout 18 different countries. This ownership makes them one of the largest owners of land in Texas.
Here are 2 offices with their custom name plates. If there were to move offices or change names, we can easily remove the clear acrylic and update the name or install the plate at a different office
During our consultation it was obvious they were looking for something very specific to match their offices. Nothing in standard stock catalogs could capture what they envisioned so we started discussing custom made identification plates. This process is more time consuming but it gives us the power to let the customer choose each individual piece of the project as opposed to going with something that “should look fine”. The agreed upon final design would have a wood grain vinyl applied to an acrylic backing. Attached to that with champagne stand offs would be a clear acrylic panel with cut out colored vinyl with either the room name or a person’s name along with the room number. They also selected a font that matched the decor of the new office space. We also discussed options for their staff who work in cubicles. They also wanted these employees to have name identification plates but they knew the large 8″x5″ name plates that were to be wall mounted could not be mounted to the exterior of a cubicle. So our design team came up with a similar option measuring in at 8″x2″. These smaller name plates would not have stand offs, but the matching champagne post would attach the clear acrylic with the vinyl cut out names directly to the vinyl wooden backing. These name plates would then be secured to the cubicle with a clear acrylic bracket. As you can see in the photos, both designs came out great and Texas Pacific Land Trust was delighted with the final 82 large wall mounted name plates and the 10 small cubicle mounted name plates.

In order to assist them with any new employees or name changes, Visual Dynamics Sign and Image Solutions set up a program that would allow then to send us the clear acrylic portion of the name plate with a note of what the same should be. We can then quickly cut out the name on the color matching vinyl, apply it to the acrylic name plate and send it back to them the same day.
