Welcome to the month of June! As we look back on the first five months of the year we are noticing a change in what our customers are looking for when purchasing computers. For the first time in years, a number of customers are coming to us and asking us to help them build their own computers. We have a program that we are resurrecting to do exactly that. This program is called Built-By-Me where customers are able to purchase all the industry standard components from us, and build their own computer with our guidance, from start to finish. These customers learn to assemble the hardware, and install Microsoft Windows on their custom computer. The end result is they have a high quality custom built computer and the knowledge of doing the build themselves, without any additional cost. What we find is that most customers that like our Built-By-Me program our students. These are young adults or students as young as 13 or 14 years old that want to learn how to build a computer so they understand how it works when they are using it. Many times these customers like to play games on computers but sometimes they just enjoy the process of constructing and building something that works. Sometimes the motivation is a sense of pride of ownership and craftsmanship. As with all our custom built computers, our Built-By-Me computers are easily upgradable, energy efficient, and thus have a low cost of ownership and long useful life.
