It can seem impossible to find the right fit for open roles in your business today, especially for roles which require technical expertise or in-demand skills. Many companies have had job vacancies sitting open for months at a time, costing them money and causing their other team members to become overworked or burnt out. In this situation, enlisting the help of an experienced business coach can help.
My name is Jason Ballard and I am a business coach in the Louisville, KY area. Over the years I have worked with companies of all industries and sizes, and it’s my job to help the owners reach their professional goals by lending my corporate experience to their needs.
Each client I work with has unique goals and needs, and I always tailor a coaching plan to meet their needs, but in recent years almost all my clients have had a need for advice on effectively staffing their companies. After the great labor shortage and the mass resignation we saw following the pandemic, the entire landscape has changed in terms of benefits, salaries, job marketing and more.
Employees now have the leverage, and as an employer you must create an attractive environment for them to thrive in, present yourself with a great deal of professionalism and find a way to stand out from the crowd of other companies who are recruiting for the same needs.
Instead of providing a job which meets a prospective employee’s needs, employers are now faced with the challenge of providing a career for their people. In order to attract the top talent who will fit your company needs, you must provide a roadmap for success in your company and explain to people how they fit in your structure, and what it takes to move up. By creating a positive work culture, explaining to employees how their contributions help the entire team and making your company a place where they can build a career, you will have the best chance to attract and retain top talent.
Below you will find an excerpt from one of my sessions on recruiting top talent. If you need help finding the right people to help your company thrive, give me a call or fill out the form on my website today and I will be happy to help!
The demand for talent still exists. The demand for top talent, qualified talent, people that want to work, people that are excited to go to work, for you, is just becoming more competitive. It was already competitive, it was already a challenge.
The great resignation taught us a lot of lessons about where people want to work, the types of things they want to do, how they want to do it, when they want to do it, which kind of gets to the other part of this equation: people in the workforce do not think about their career as it is a job anymore. It’s not a JOB and a lot of employers are really still kind of stuck in the past, people just don’t want a job they want a career.
