BY: Your Name, Your Business

Soaring to success as a business leader takes more than just having the correct title. It requires hard work, dedication, and, most importantly, the ability to lead by example. In this episode of the Soar Higher Podcast, Jason Ballard interviews Joel Weiland about what it takes to be a successful leader. They discuss developing followers, servant leadership, and the 20/60/20 rule. If you’re looking to take your career to new heights, don’t miss this inspiring episode!

What Does (Or Should) A Leader Do?

As a business leader, your primary responsibility is to guide and support your team in achieving their goals. This requires many different skills, including motivating and inspiring others and strong organizational and decision-making abilities. To be an effective leader, you must also understand what it takes to develop yourself into a good leader, including discipline, resilience, and self-awareness.

Does A Leader Have To Be The Best At Their Job To Lead?

You don’t necessarily have to be the best at your job to lead others. However, you must be competent and confident in your abilities, as this will give you the credibility needed to guide and support your team effectively.

Does Your Title Make You A Leader?

No, your title does not automatically make you a leader. To be a successful leader, you must respect and trust those you are leading. This can be earned through your actions and behavior and your ability to communicate effectively and provide support when needed.

Are Leaders Born Or Made?

There is no simple answer to this question, as it is likely that both nature and nurture play a role in developing leadership skills. However, it is essential to remember that anyone has the potential to become a successful leader with the proper training and support.

The 20/60/20 Rule Of Getting People To Follow You

The 20/60/20 rule is a guideline for getting people to follow you. According to this rule, 20% of the people will always follow you no matter what, 60% of the people will follow you if you give them a good reason, and 20% will never follow you.

The Most Important Attribute: Discipline

Discipline is one of the essential qualities for a leader to have. This quality allows you to stay focused and motivated, even when things are tough. It also allows you to set an example for your team and lead by example.

Servant Leadership

Servant leadership is a type of leadership where leaders focus on serving their team and meeting their needs. This approach is based on the belief that people are more likely to follow a supportive and caring leader.
