An inspiring office space can boost your focus and production levels. It doesn’t have to be a large space, just a dedicated workspace that’s yours. That’s important during this COVID-19 pandemic with so many of us working from home. We’ll show you how to adapt your current small space and make it work for your office needs.
- Find a place for your office. It could be an empty closet a nook in the corner or the area under the stairs. As long as it’s tucked away from the other house traffic, it’s an ideal spot. The goal is to maximize the space you’re not using. It’s simple to transform a closet shelving unit into a desk and use the other shelves to hold your supplies. All you need to do is add a desk chair when the unit is open.
- Select the right kind of desk for your needs. Consider using a floating desk since it doesn’t look like a classic desk and will blend right into your living room if you have to stick into a corner wall. Many of them come in classic white so will fit in with your décor. Think about building a sit or stand workstation that allows you to stand and stretch while working but if you need to sit and rest you can add a higher barstool or chair.
- Consider your privacy. Your goal is probably to hide your office when others come by. This can be as easy as hanging a curtain to separate the area off. If you want another option, choose a clamp-on- desk divider, which allows you to work at any desk or table without prying eyes.
- Think modular. You can buy floating desks and shelves or you can buy desks and chairs on wheels that move easily in case you have company and need that space for something else. Having storage cabinets on wheels is a bonus because it’s simpler to transport your files to you, even if it doesn’t fit in your new tiny office.
