6-20-Oakland,CA-How to Find Time and Space for Your Hobbies During Quarantine

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Most of us have been quarantined for around three months now. For those of us not working full-time, we’ve had to find new hobbies. Some of us have taken up new hobbies to lower our stress levels and spend time with our families. Some hobbies don’t take up much extra space, while others you may have to figure out where to make room in your already crowded house.

Learn a Musical Talent

Do you have an extra room or an area in the basement where you or your children can learn to play an instrument? Maybe they want to learn to play the drums or maybe they play the guitar? Try to choose a soundproof room so the music doesn’t echo or disturb the rest of your family.

Exercise

Now is the perfect time to exercise. All you need is a television or a laptop, and you’re able to stream hundreds of different work-out videos. If you don’t have a designated work-out room, keep a yoga mat, and some hand weights tucked away in a closet. This way, you can pull them out whenever you want to exercise.

Get Crafty

Again, if you don’t have a designated craft room, it might be time to make your dining room a multi-purpose room, especially if you only use it for formal occasions. Make sure to cover the table with newspaper or cloth before you and the kids get started. You can do anything from painting to coloring to making jewelry. Store the supplies in their designated boxes and keep them hidden away in a cabinet.

Scrapbooking

You now all those photos you have lying around and cluttering your house? Now is the ideal time to sort through those photos and actually put them in photo albums. You make it a family affair and show your children older photos to teach them history or get them involved in the decorating by choosing the stickers. You’ll have freed up some boxes and had some fun.

Reading

Now that you’re home more, you may have time to sit down and enjoy that summer beach read. Perhaps, your children can get started on next year’s reading list. It’s simple to create a reading nook in their bedrooms or by a bay window in the living room. You’ll want some natural light, some comfortable chairs or cushions to sit on, and a small table for a beverage.

Cooking and Baking

We’ll discuss this one in detail next week when we discuss changing up our kitchens but many families are teaching their children to cook or bake with the time off. This means more bodies in the kitchen, which can become chaotic.

These are just a few hobby ideas for during the quarantine. Next week, we’ll discuss how to redo your kitchen to meet the extra needs of your family. If you have any questions, please call Refresh Organizers & Designers at (510) 570-1292.
