San Jose Auto Shop Has Audi Repair Experience

If your brakes squeal when you try to stop your vehicle, it’s not only annoying but it is also your car’s way of telling you it’s time to have a professional check it out. Grinding brakes are not unique to a specific model of car, and there are a few common reasons why this annoying problem can arise. While all cars can suffer from grinding while braking, if you own a luxury or foreign vehicle, it’s important to have your car diagnosed by a shop with experience working on your make and model. If you are in the San Jose area, our team of pros can likely help. We have years of experience repairing and servicing cars of all types, and we even have some team members who specialize in foreign auto repair. If you own an Audi, you might be nervous about expensive repairs and maintenance when the time comes. Audi vehicles have a reputation for being generally reliable, but expensive to maintain. However, our team has the know-how to repair Audis quickly and completely, and our customer-focused approach means we give you the best price possible. In this article, we will discuss the Audi A4 and how we correct grinding brakes in this model. If you have an A4 with brake issues, read on to learn why we’re the ideal partner for your repair and maintenance. Warped Rotors There are many reasons why an A4 might have grinding brakes. To start, we will examine the most intrusive repair when brakes are grinding: damaged or warped rotors. When a vehicle’s rotors are warped, it can certainly cause grinding brakes but it also can cause a vibration at high speed, a pulling feeling to one side, and other more severe issues if left unchecked. While we replace rotors regularly, this is a more costly and time consuming repair than other issues which cause grinding. Brake Caliper Issues The A4 and most other modern vehicles use calipers to slow speeds. Calipers are very small pistons which press down on brake pads, causing friction and in turn stopping the car. When a brake caliper sticks, it can cause all or part of the pad to continually press against the rotor. This constant pressure can lead to uneven wear and grinding. Need New Brake Pads While calipers or rotors with issues can cause brake pads to wear prematurely, all brake pads eventually wear down over time and will need to be replaced. Brake pads are coated with a friction-inducing material and eventually this coating wears off. When it does, you get the ear-splitting sound of metal-on-metal when applying the brakes, which means it’s time for new pads. Debris or Corrosion Occasionally we work on vehicles with grinding brakes and the issue is more simple. Sometimes rocks, asphalt, or other debris can wedge their way into the brakes and grind against the rotors. If your A4 is experiencing grinding brakes, we would be happy to check it out and provide a professional diagnosis, along with a long-lasting repair.
