San Francisco, CA – What Should I Bring On A Long Flight? – Travel Tips

BY: MATT MEYER, ALL BUSINESS CLASS

Things To Bring On Every International Flight

  • Noise Cancelling headphones (or earplugs)

Aircrafts are loud. Good sound canceling headphones can significantly decrease the motor noise to make the entire flight much more relaxed.

  •  USB cable

Many new aircraft have USB connectors on all seats. It will not recharge your phone / tablet very quickly, but it keeps it from getting low. The ideal cable to still use or store your phone in the sitting pocket is a cable that’s long enough.

  • USB battery pack

I recommend these. They are an optional mobile device replacement battery. No more juice is running out. A convenient addition if you plan to watch movies throughout the flight on your tablet.

  • An extra layer

Aircraft can get cold, especially at night. I saw people flying in shorts, and that’s not what I get. Most long flights will give you a hankie they optimistically call a “blanket” but others don’t. It should be noted that it is actually warmer than the aisle if the light is on the glass. If you’re in an exit row, it’s almost always much colder.

  • Travel Pillow (optional)

You’ll likely be given a flat synthetic cotton ball which claims to be a pillow while giving you a blanket. I know some people who swear half-donuts by the neck but with them you can’t get cozy.

  • Pen

Most countries need some basic information in a brief (and sometimes not so brief) form. Flight attendants almost never have spare pens, and even if they do, they probably won’t give them to you (they need them!). Most airports, but not all, will have a location where you can fill out this form when you arrive.
