It was long known as the sweetest and best tasting in Rome from the ancient aqueduct called Acqua Vergine; the barrels were delivered each week to the Vatican for centuries.
The water is not potable anymore, though. A number of books and films have included the Fountain of Trevi, in particular La Dolce Vita (1960) by Federico Fellini. The fountain for a major renovation was opened in 2014–2015. Coins are collected daily and donated to charities, which are poured into its water. So relax in Rome. Take a day to just stroll through and really get to admire all the amazing art and architecture Rome has to offer.
