We love creating custom exterior signage, so we were happy to work with Grand Jeté on the newest upgrade to their business. They loved their sign, but it had visible wear and tear from years and years of service. The owner basically wanted the same sign, just rejuvenated. We settled on a plan of action and got to work.
The pictures provided show the sign as it was when we brought it into our shop, and as it appears on the building exterior after fixing it up. As you can see, it was worn and cracked, and the paint was fading from several parts on each letter. The finished product looks much better, with crisp, clean lines and bright, bold color.
Grand Jeté is a retail dance store that has been on historic Grand Avenue since 1983. They are one of only two original tenants in the building they occupy, the other tenant being a dance studio. The business prides itself in very hands-on customer service, even attending many of their customer’s performances. The staff members are all dancers or have previous dance experience, so you can shop there knowing you are getting top-notch assistance.
To refurbish this sign, we first started by removing the lettering and ballerina from the backboard. Since it was broken at one end, we started with a new piece of material and cut it to shape.
The white outline was added, and the old letters were repainted. Once each piece was cleaned and painted, we affixed them to the new backboard. To install, we used stud mounts that secured it to the brick exterior.
An attractive exterior business sign is important for keeping up good appearances in the community. Grand Avenue is also very well travelled, so their sign is seen by hundreds of people each day. The more worn out it looks, the less a passerby may think of the store itself.
