We were recently contacted by CEAP to help create and install new signage to demarcate their newest addition: the Turning Leaf Thrift Store. We had worked with them previously on their location branding project, so we were excited to have heard from them again.
The pictures provided show the detail of the metal lettering above the door, as well as the cut vinyl that decorates the wall adjacent to the door. The metal reflects the surrounding light beautifully, making it easily noticeable against the uplifting and vibrant purple walls. The leaves featured tie into CEAP’s existing lobby signage, which has the same single green leaf and floating effect. Overall, the end product turned out crisp, clean, and very attractive.
CEAP, or Community Emergency Assistance Programs, is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to low-income families and individuals, senior citizens, and adults with disabilities. Founded in 1970, Brooklyn Center community members teamed up with local churches in order to reach out to those in need. As the years went by, they were able to expand into Anoka County and opened up a second location to better meet the needs of the community. The Turning Leaf Thrift Store is their newest service offered, providing low-cost clothing and other essential goods that are in demand.
In creating this sign, we started with having some cut aluminum letters made. The rest of the project required some custom printed vinyl, which gave us both the solid color leaf and the multi shaded ones that are positioned near the letters. To prep for installation, we outlined where everything was to go on the wall and double checked that our client was happy with it. The letters were then attached to the wall with simple fittings, and the vinyl was carefully laid and smoothed down to the wall.
The main benefits of this kind of signage are branding and way finding. Although it does not feature the name of the organization, they kept with a very similar design style so anyone can easily make the association. Using clean and attractive signage like this as a way finding tool beautifies the entire space. It makes it simple for those that take advantage of their services to navigate their way to where they need to be and improves their overall experience.
