We recently had the pleasure of working with Memorial Lutheran Church on a directional signage project for their building. The existing signage was outdated and worn, so they were looking to have it replaced.
The images provided show the three different locations that needed updated signage. A deep brown background with an ADA compliant font helps the signs stand out from the white walls and makes them easy to read. Signs like the ones pictured are a crucial part of effective way finding in any public building.
Memorial Lutheran Church is a local house of worship that was established in 1882. Originally called the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church, it has grown into a diverse group of caring individuals who are committed to their faith and their community. The church offers Sunday service, faith education, and choirs, as well as baptisms, weddings, an
d funerals.
These signs are made out of an acrylic backing with 3M vinyl lettering applied to the surface. The sign material can be purchased in nearly any color and made to nearly any shape, so it’s a pretty easy process. The lettering was laid out on the computer and sent to the die cutter. Then, excess material was weeded out using an X-ACTO knife before being aligned to the sign. These signs are installed using an adhesive backing that is double sided. The adhesive is stuck to the back of the sign, then the protective film is removed from the other side and the sign can be simply pushed onto the desired surface.
Directional signage is beneficial to the community and those that frequent your location. It helps people find where they are going and attempts to eliminate any frustration by making areas clear and straightforward. Depending on the size of your building, they can even eliminate the need for an information desk when combined with an easy to read and interpret directory.
