Firstly, the old sign face had to go. We did a quick survey of the electrical components before removing the previous face from the logo box and had noticed some burnt-looking residue on the original prints. After a quick electrical survey, we discovered that the electrical components were good, but the residue behind was left from weather damage from the hot, Texas sun. We unscrewed around the frame to pop out the old face, and our customer was left with an open face for around a week while we prepared the new vinyl print and adhered the new trim cap.
We ended up replacing the sign face with brand-new 3/16” polycarbonate and glued on a new trim cap to screw onto the existing frame for the logo box. Our print material of choice for this project was 40C Clear vinyl laminated with 8508 Glossy laminate; in order for the light to shine through the surface and still show a clear, vibrant digital image for the best visibility and durability under extreme heat, wind, and other weather that can cause potential damage to their sign facing.
