Branding Changes

Large and small companies alike sometimes decide to change their branding. It could be due to ownership change, re structure of the company or the company may have been bought out. Whatever the reason, at Front Row Signs, we are equipped to help update all of the signs to the new brand. This is what we did for Richmond RX. Let’s take a look at how we helped them re brand all of their current signs.

After the initial call for the job, we performed a site survey of the Richmond location. There were 3 existing channel capsule signs on the building and one pole sign. The capsule signs were all the same size, 6’W x 3’H. We were able to use the existing acrylics for two of them. For the third one, the plastic was missing so we had to replace it. For the pole sign, the existing polycarbonate faces were reusable. They were both 12’W x 6’H. After approving the quote, the client was ready to move forward quickly.

Graphic Removal Process

First steps were to remove the existing vinyls from the plastics. This is best if we can perform this task in our shop but sometimes it isnt feasible or the client doesn’t want the signs to look empty. This was the case for this project so we planned to do the removal and installation separately. We were able to utilize ladders for the graphic removals for the capsule signs but needed the 50′ boom bucket truck for the pole sign plastics. Using a specialized tool that attaches to the end of a drill, we tackled the difficult job of removing old and peeling vinyl from all the signs. Along with a chemical remover, we still had a hard time removing everything. but finally completed it in a couple of hours.

Back at the shop, we were moving right along with the next steps. We prepared the new plastic piece for the empty capsule. We accurately measured the opening and the distinctions for the shape. We used 3/16″ white acrylic and route cut it to fit within the existing frame reusing the return but adding a new trim cap. We also prepared the logo for the signs. We used 3M trans and allowed the customer to choose the purple color that best fit their branding. Once the vinyl was cut on the plotter, we weeded out the negative spaces, applied transfer tape and set aside until we had the installation scheduled.

Installation Day

Time to install and our 3 man crew was ready to head back out to Richmond to finish up. With a little prep work to clean the existing plastics before applying the vinyl, we made quick work of the install. The client was very happy with how they turned out.

Big or small, we can do the job with integrity. We guarantee it! Give us a call for your next re-branding project. 832-222-9385
