When Highland Resources approached us about wayfinding signs for their newest development in Fulshear, Texas, we were thrilled to be a part of LaPrada Landing. With offerings varying from 60-105 acres per tract, the wayfinding signs had a two fold purpose-to show the location of each tract and update the status when they became purchased. We had a few ideas and went right to work on expressing those options to our client.
We began with the design. The client wanted to include an artists rendering of the land tracts & their names. Since some of the tracts were already sold or pending and some were still available, the client needed a simple solution to update the sign when new tracts were purchased.
We decided to include the current unavailable tracts into the design and those for sale, we created removable clear stickers. The client could add the stickers to the finished sign as they were purchased therefore eliminating the need to replace the sign each time a new tract’s status changed.
We chose a removable and repositionable static cling vinyl so that the client could easily update their sign and eliminate the probability of improper installation-if the sticker was placed incorrectly, all the client had to do was easily remove it and re-install without endangering the integrity of the vinyl design underneath.
Once the design was approved, we printed it on General Formulations 230 2.4 mil gloss calendered white vinyl & laminated with the matching gloss GF231. We then applied the laminated vinyl to the 4×8 sheet of primed ½” MDO. Even though the sign was single sided, we opted for MDO primed on both sides as the client wanted a finished look visible from the back as well as the front. We adhered two 6’ wood posts to the vertically placed MDO and wrapped the entire sign with protective wrap to ensure an accident free trip en route to install. Then since there were two total signs, we duplicated the process for the 2nd sign.
In the meantime, we printed 10 each 11.5”w x 5”h removable “Pending” and “Sold” stickers with 8 mil clear Glass Adhere static film. We packaged them in a large envelope for easy use & storage for the client.
Our installer was ready to transport the 2 signs to the sites. The day of the install was super windy and a big storm was coming in fast. Because of the time constraints of the client, we had no choice but to install in less than ideal conditions. We used an auger to dig the hole posts after careful measuring. Although its more expensive than concrete, we used Sika Polyurethane fence post mix. Much easier to use, lightweight, sets up quickly and no water needed. This decreased the time at the site which was imperative when trying to beat out a storm! After the signs were installed, we re-visited the site after the storm to ensure everything was in perfect condition. We were happy to see that the signs made it through the storm with flying colors! Now that’s a testament to a good installer and good materials! We are ready to go the extra mile for our clients without compromising our quality every time.
Signs were installed in time for their big ground breaking event, held up through a major storm and our client didn’t have to worry about a thing! They were very happy with the job.
