Last week I had a client come in reporting that he felt anxious almost all the time and that he had been having panic attacks which were increasing significantly in frequency; in fact, they were pretty much happening daily. When they hit, he would be filled with dread and terror. The whole world would feel as if it would crumble down. He knew that conflict at work or home could bring the panic on but there were many times he could not figure out what triggered them. He said they would ride him for hours on end. He felt like he was in constant fight or flight
He was filled with self doubt. He would constantly think that things would not work out so even wouldn't even try. He wouldn't strive to achieve something new "knowing" he wouldn't conquer the situation. He reported that he had become completely shut down.
He also came in with significant procrastination. He really wanted to be able to get focused and complete chores and items that had to be done.
Getting laid off from his job magnified everything he was going through. He had been to a traditional therapist and did not see any benefit. He only came in to see me because his wife knew people I had worked with very successfully with their anxiety.
The client's goal is to be happy and excited about himself, have a high self opinion, to be a positive individual, to have inner peace and to achieve in his life.
On his first visit, I determined what his emotions and beliefs were concerning his issues. We then spoke about his goals, what he wanted his life to be like, how his life would be different when he achieved his goals. I then did Eye Movement Therapy and he started feeling better. Next, I taught him an NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) technique to help with anxiousness and stress. His anxiousness dropped some more. He then moved to the recliner in my room where I put him into hypnosis and made him a recording specific to his issues for him to listen to daily. He left feeling much better than when he came in. He was surprised based on his previous experience with traditional therapy.
When he came back this week, he reported he had no panic attacks!! After one session!! He said there was one time where he almost "melted down" but did the technique I taught him and it nipped it in the bud. He also noted that he had gotten chores done at home that were weeks overdue. We are continuing to work on what he came in with but he is so happy with the progress after his first session.

At the end of his second session, he reported he couldn't remember the last time he felt as good.
