You are trying to work but your stomach is in knots. You find yourself holding your body tense and suddenly realize you are barely breathing. You notice you are not only feeling anxious but also sad that this is happening yet again. And then you also notice anger at yourself for experiencing this over and over and over. You know what to do. Why can’t you just stop the anxiety from taking over? Why won’t it go away?
If the conscious, logical, thinking part of your mind could take care of your problem, it would have done so long ago. No one likes feeling stressed and anxious most of the time. Everyone wants to get rid of the sadness, dread, anger, and hurt.
But the truth is, that the subconscious mind runs the show. The subconscious is the part of the mind that stores all your memories, beliefs, and emotions. And it is truly in charge. Emotion always wins out over logic. Every time. No matter how hard you try to change the feelings and beliefs with the conscious mind, they stay the same.
The subconscious has created so many beliefs over the years that do not serve you. You usually are not even consciously aware of what they are. Often times, these beliefs were formed early in childhood. But once they are in there, you need to access the subconscious to change them. Imagine as if you were looking at life through the eyes of a small child, someone without the reasoning ability of an adult. Can you see how things could be misinterpreted?
For example, if one of your parents was someone who yelled often, you may have developed a belief that you are someone who is not good enough. Why else would mom or dad constantly be yelling at you? As a child or even a pre-teen, you couldn't see that perhaps they were worried about taking care of the family, perhaps they were worried about money, perhaps they were stressed themselves and that they didn’t have the resources at that time to act any differently. Instead, you thought you were the reason they acted a certain way. It was never true—you had nothing to do with their behavior but, to this day, your subconscious believes it was your fault.
Of course, the above is only one possible scenario out of an infinite amount of possible scenarios and possible outcomes. When you come in to see me, we uncover what false beliefs are in your subconscious that are keeping you imprisoned in a life you want to change. We find out what decisions you made about life that may not be true. When these are discovered, they can be changed in hypnosis. And your life gets better.
