Implementing Oxygen, Cyro, and Red Light Therapy

When you want to create a comprehensive wellness routine, it matters to be mindful about your plan and the services you implement into it. Here, we'll discuss how you can incorporate cryo, HBOT, and red light therapy to create the best whole-body wellness routine possible. You’ve heard about a skin care routine before, but are you familiar with a wellness routine? Here at Recovery Lab, we can’t emphasize enough the importance of engaging in different wellness services on a regular basis. Implementing a wellness routine will truly change your life, from reducing chronic pain to improving tissue repair. Below, we’ll discuss how you can implement some of our most popular services – red light therapy, cryotherapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) – into your routine to promote whole-body healing. Understand How the Services Differ Before diving into these three wellness services, it’s critical to understand how each one works, how they’re different, and how they work together in unison.
  • Red Light Therapy: Applies certain frequencies of light to the client to reduce inflammation, improve nerve pain, and trigger the production of cellular energy (ATP)
  • Cryotherapy: Involves brief, extremely cold temperature exposure to improve the inflammatory response, encourage proper blood flow, and boost the recovery of the muscles
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Involves breathing in saturated oxygen in a pressurized chamber to speed up tissue repair, calm the inflammatory response, and improve one’s energy levels
Based on this, it’s clear each of the therapies are very different in application yet offer some overlapping benefits. When together, these can create a more comprehensive approach to wellness as each of them triggers the body’s natural healing response, encouraging it to heal itself. Plan Your Routine in the Appropriate Order When implementing each of these three wellness services into your routine, it’s important to consider doing them in the best order. We recommend trying red light therapy first, followed by cryotherapy, then hyperbaric oxygen therapy. But why is this order important, you might ask? Red light therapy is a good starting point because it acts as a preparatory stage, getting the cells ready. Cryotherapy is vital next as it energizes the body and encourages endorphin production. Finally, hyperbaric oxygen therapy provides deeper healing and detox of the connective tissues, which the latter therapies helped prepare it for. Creating a Balanced Weekly Routine While your weekly wellness routine may differ depending on your budget and availability, when adding these three services to your routine, we recommend engaging in each therapy three times a week, every other day. This may sound like a lot. However, red light therapy sessions last about 10 to 20 minutes while cryotherapy only lasts a few minutes. HBOT can last 60 to 90 minutes each session, with it being the most intensive of the three. Creating a Weekly Routine Based on Specific Needs While a balanced weekly routine will work well for most people, sometimes one has specific needs may require a slightly different routine for the best results. For example, if you’re an anxiety sufferer, you may want to engage in red light therapy daily, two or three sessions of cryotherapy a week, and two or three HBOT sessions a week. Athletes, on the other hand, may want an extra cryotherapy appointment each week, daily red light therapy, and two or three HBOT sessions weekly.
