Glendora, CA - Common Hyperbaric Therapy FAQs Discussed by a Wellness Clinic

SYNOPSIS: For those of you who are considering trying out our hyperbaric oxygen therapy at Recovery Lab of La Verne, we know you have many questions.

Learn About Hyperbaric Therapy Before Trying It

BY: Crystal Lopez, Recovery Lab of La Verne, CA
While some of the questions are ones best suited to being asked in person, such as ones to help you figure out how often you should have hyperbaric therapy for the results you want, below you’ll find some of the common questions about general things and their answers. What Does Hyperbaric Therapy Feel Like? Most people describe it as being similar to what it feels like when you’re in a plane as it takes off. Some people barely notice this, but others have their ears pop and can genuinely feel pressure in their ears, sometimes enough to make a popping sound in them. Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Safe? Yes, with some exceptions. As with anything, discussing this therapy with your doctor is important. While we know how great hyperbaric oxygen therapy is for almost everybody, we also know there are indeed certain cases where you shouldn’t use this. Most of these are the same situations in which you’d want to avoid flying, such as if you have a bad ear infection or are still recovering from a collapsed lung. Basically, anything common sense says wouldn’t pair well with an increase in pressure. How Long Does This Therapy Take? This partially depends on what you’re capable of handling. For people just getting started, you’re not going to want to be in the chamber for more than half an hour to an hour to see how you are afterward. However, if you need more time in the hyperbaric chamber, sessions can last up to two hours. What Should I Wear? You should wear clothing that is both loose and comfortable and 100% cotton, as this fabric won’t cause any static. Along with this, you’re not allowed to wear a watch or anything electric, as the increased oxygen means a spark is more likely to cause a fire. In fact, anything that could potentially cause a spark at all, even one from static, is not allowed inside. What Is This Like To Get At A Wellness Clinic? At Recovery Lab, our recovery specialist will walk you through the whole thing. This includes making sure you’re not wearing anything you’re not supposed to be when you get in the chamber. To prep before this, you’ll be asked to get into fully cotton clothing and to take your shoes, etc., off. While you do this, you can ask any questions you like. During it, you are supposed to relax and just breathe. If you need anything, or if your ears start to hurt or something else happens, the recovery specialist will still be nearby and will stop the session early if necessary.
