A few months ago, we were given a project to do that involved a vehicle wrap which had been designed on the east coast. The designer used a photograph instead of a template. This made the total drawing go completely out of perspective. Parts were too short. When asked to make them longer, he made the whole drawing bigger. That didn’t help. He used high res photos on part of the wrap but featured extremely low res files in front of the originals, without even cleaning them (removing unwanted parts of the original drawing) before sending them to me. The total experience was unbelievable, even though it was very educational in helping us establish our standards and practices. He was very rude to me, the new designer, and also the management of the wrap company (my husband). Eventually, he was rude to us in front of the client. At that point our client asked to send his files to the management of Signature d’Sign. Soon after we received the files, the client remembered a friend who is a graphic designer, and who always wanted to design a vehicle wrap. She took the files. After several months, the wrap was finally finished. The client loves it, and everyone (except the original designer) was able to bond and grow in the experience. We are looking forward to doing the whole fleet any day now . . The overall project took months longer than we expected, so this was also a project which helped us practice our patience.
Here is the video of the installation process. Thanks to Jesse and crew! Stay tuned – we will be completing the wrap on our 2001 Acura TL soon. It’s been an uphill climb, since we haven’t even been anble to find a template in 2 years. I’ve been trying to fashion my own template, which is much easier said than done.
