Polycarbonate was the right material because it does not crack under temperature shifts, ripple in sunlight, or cloud up after six months of marine air exposure. Acrylic might be cheaper, but it fails faster under real conditions, especially in coastal cities like Carlsbad. We trimmed this project with precision-fit cap edging to seal the perimeter completely. This keeps the face secure and the interior protected while allowing expansion without bowing or snapping under pressure.
