TRU Simulation, our client in Carlsbad, had a fun job for us recently. They needed a new lobby sign as they had a new logo, which would be installed on a curved wall, posing a unique challenge we were happy to meet. We worked with the space and the wall to make sure the sign aligned level with the same depth across its length, creating a beautiful new sign for this tech-oriented client.

TRU offers aviation simulation and services, military simulation and services, pilot training, and maintenance training. They are a busy company doing important work, and a leader in their industry. They use technology to its greatest advantage, something we wanted to reflect in our work and our custom fabrication of their new lobby sign.
We started by taking a look at the new logo, as the client wanted to match the old sign to their new logo as closely as possible. We created an artwork design proof, which was approved by our client, then got to work manufacturing the sign while removing the existing sign and its electrical wiring, and patching and painting the wall where it was installed.

The new sign featured the letters TRU in 2” thick steel with Lexan back material with L brackets, stud mounted with spacers and illuminated with UL certified white LEDs using a 60 watt power supply standard. We painted it Blue 294 and brushed silver to match the new logo. ‘Simulation + Training’ was fabricated in 3/4” thick acrylic, painted standard black and stud mounted with spacers. The phrase ‘A Textron Company’ was created in 3/8” thick acrylic, also painted standard black and flush mounted with VHB tape. Our installation services included the custom drill pattern, studs, spacers, and VHB tape to ensure the sign is appropriately mounted and will last for a long time to come.
Our client was happy with the result, with an updated lobby that shows off the new logo so all of the company’s branding matches. We worked hard to ensure that the logo was correct, as well as ensuring that all traces of the old sign were removed, and that the new sign fit into its space perfectly.
