When a company expands, there is a lot of work to do to make sure that customers know that there are now more opportunities to visit the business they love, and to attract new clients in an untapped area. Quality business signage is a big part of this, as it makes a new location familiar to people in the know, while ideally creating an excellent first impression on new eyes. Our client, Leap Coffee, was opening a second location at the Carlsbad Mall and secured the services of North Coast Signs to ensure their new storefront signage was the best it could be.

Some of the work involved with opening a new location, or doing any sign project, is securing permits and approval. This is a service we offer to our clients at no additional cost — we simply add the actual fees onto the final invoice. For this project, we worked with the mall’s landlord for approval, as well as applying for the appropriate permit through the City of Carlsbad.
Non-Illuminated Sign
With all of the approvals and permits in place, and an approved design proof, we got to work manufacturing the sign based on the proof we had created. We brought our client’s brand to life with a custom cut sign, featuring LEAP COFFEE in 1/4” thick aluminum lettering, at 24” high. The aluminum was painted a beautiful matte black and installed using a glass drill bit on the wall tile. We provided a one-day articulating boom lift rental including delivery and pickup to make sure the installation went well, and used a custom mounting template, studs, and 1/2” spacers painted to match the wall tile to complete the job.
While we applied for a non-illuminated sign permit based on our client consultation. If the company does decide to light up the sign eventually, we recommended they install trough lighting through another client of ours, Pro-Cal Lighting.

Our work with Leap Coffee was satisfying, knowing that we were part of helping their business grow, and the client was happy with the end result, completing the sign by commissioning a separate artist to paint a frog on the wall.
