Restaurant Row Sign at the Shoppes of Carlsbad[/caption]
The first location of the Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop opened in 2008, which quickly grew to become a local favorite. It was not uncommon to see the line wrapping around the block! When The Shoppes at Carlsbad Mall began planning the new construction Restaurant Row, The Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop was an excellent choice to the line-up. This location in north county San Diego would create a new demographic following for this delicious restaurant.
In early November, when we first received the phone call from Lucha Libre, they explained working with a previous sign vendor who stopped responding to this project. Explaining the restaurant was opening by Thanksgiving, there was no time to waste to meet the tight deadline.
We started our plans with the landlord's sign criteria and requirements, as there were certain specifications for materials and allowances. We performed a site survey to verify measurements and sign access, along with meeting with the contractors to verify electrical wiring on a dedicated circuit, with an access panel would be in place behind the sign location.
In addition to the landlord requirements, the City of Carlsbad sign criteria also had to be taken into consideration. The size of the sign needed to fit a 1:1 ratio for the linear store frontage measurement, to the overall sign square footage. Once we had the sign size determined, we were able to verify the costs, and create the necessary signage permit documents for approvals. Once the permit was granted, fabrication could begin.

Illuminated Channel Letter Restaurant Sign[/caption]
Restaurant signs can be created out of various materials. For illuminated channel letters, the material most commonly used is aluminum. For this sign, we used the custom font in the logo to fabricate the letters. For the halo-lit effect, they were reverse pan halo-lit with LEDs. This would give a glow effect to the letters, sized 16" tall, with 2" returns, painted black, and stud-mounted with 1" stand-offs. The center image was the Lucha Libre face, which was a face-lit graphic full-color digital print. The dots in the logo were created out of laser-cut acrylic, for the filigree design that was consistent with the branding. All our electrical restaurant signs are UL certifed LEDs with quality 100w LED power supplies for illumination.
On the storefront awning, we provided acrylic dimensional letters "TACO SHOP" and white cut vinyl suite numbers for building identification. It's the added touches that create visible restaurant signage, so the new (as well as existing) customers could locate this new second Lucha Libre location.
If you're looking for restaurant signs -- electrical or non-electrical channel letters, let our team help! We also provide window graphics, wall graphics, posters, lobby signs, laser-cut acrylic letters, lobby signs, vinyl lettering, graphics and more. If you have an "inspiration" image you have in mind for your signage to emulate, that always helps in the design process to make sure what we propose fits what you have in mind.
