Wayfinding signs Carlsbad
West Inn & Suites in Carlsbad, CA is a beautiful hotel, attracting tourists from all over the world. They share a parking lot which serves the hotel and two restaurants. They were looking for some wayfinding signs to help direct customers to the right destination without confusion. It’s a large parking lot, off the San Diego Freeway, and six wayfinding signs in total were needed. We were happy to help them out.
You can see from the photo that we went for a post and panel sign with the West brand displayed at the top. This is just one of the signs we installed. All the others came with the same black and tan background, but displayed different text and arrow directions. Note how we indicated the additional underground parking.
West Inn & Suites were delighted with the results. In fact, we can say we exceeded the customer’s expectations. We expect to take on further work in the future from this prestigious hotel, which is located a few blocks from the Pacific Coast. West Inn & Suites offers luxury accommodation to vacationers and business people alike.
For production, the posts and panels were made from aluminum which had a baked enamel Duranodic Bronze finish. Applying this electro chemical treatment finish to a sign has two benefits. First it prevents the aluminum from oxidizing, increasing weather robustness. Second, it looks fantastic, producing a deep, dark color with an attractive texture. Next, we applied white reflective vinyl lettering and arrow symbols to the panels with a tough, durable adhesive. As well as designing the signs, we also installed them on-site. The posts were firmly set 24” deep with concrete footings.

These wayfinding signs serve a dual purpose. They assist safe driving by providing clear directions, so avoiding hazardous driver distraction. At the same time they help reinforce the West brand in visitors’ minds. They help advertise the restaurants to hotel guests, and the hotel to diners. Wayfinding signs make customers feel more welcome and relaxed in unfamiliar environments.
