When it comes to building a custom sign, there are a lot of options. There are different options when it comes to design, and there are also different options when it comes to choices i n materials. So, a big part of our job, and what helps to separate us from our competition, is our creativity, number one, but also our knowledge of various sign products and materials. For the project featured in this article, we helped our client, Technet, to take their logo from 2D to 3D.
If you take a quick second to look at the pictures in this article, you can see the custom lobby sign that we made for Technet. It’s made from 1/2″ thick Gatorfoam, which has a brushed aluminum laminate applied to the surface. The edges are painted silver, and the arch in their logo is painted an orange color (Pantone 717c) that matches perfectly with the color in their logo.
In terms of size, the sign measures 54 inches from left to right, which is a great size for the space where it was installed. It looks professional, has a lot of pop, and catches your eye right when you approach it.
Before installing the sign, we needed to send one of our team members out to their place of business and do a site survey. Before we could start on their sign, we needed to measure the wall area, and show our client various examples of materials to see what they like. We showed them some acrylic examples, as well as PVC, foam and a few options in laminates.
In terms of installation, the sign was flush-mounted directly to the wall using VHB tape. To make sure that the sign is installed in the precise location where it needs to go, we use a mounting pattern as a guide.
All in all, when you walk in you notice the sign and it looks great. It’s very professional, with reflective qualities from the silver that catch your eye.
