Project: Lobby Wall Sign
Location: San Marcos, CA
Client: Cal State San Marcos, Dean of Students Office
Recently, we were contacted by Cal State San Marcos. They hired us us to apply their logo to a newly painted wall in the Dean of Students Office, as seen in the picture above. For this job, it was important to our clients to have a custom sign that would visually convey high end, top quality craftsmanship. Much like any business, a school needs a good brand to stand out, and to be successful. This sign that we made for the Dean of Students office gives a great first impression to students attending the school.
To make this lobby sign, we used acrylic 1/4" thick brushed silver aluminum laminate with standard gray edges. The logo itself is 35"w x 16.4"h. The lettering that reads 'Dean of Students Office' is 47" w x 3.5" h. By positioning text above and below the logo, we create a very balanced design.
To adhere the signs to the wall, we first use a mounting template to make sure that everything is positioned properly. Then we apply the lettering and logo, and any other elements, to the wall using VHB (very high bond) tape.

Every once in a while we run into an obstacle or challenge, and this project was no exception. The challenge we ran into was duplicating the graphics with some of the smaller details. Some of the smaller details were challenging because we had to be very precise when applying the adhesive to the walls. That's why we always take our time to make sure we deliver only the highest quality signs.
Though it presented its challenges, the custom lobby wall sign we made for the University at California State San Marcos turned out beautiful.
