Monument signs are great for businesses that aren’t easily seen from the road. In the image above, you can see a picture of a busy road with a monument sign featuring multiple businesses in this particular business park. Without this monument sign, it’s possible that many people would drive by without knowing that these businesses are here. Monument signs are typically large and in plain sight, where everyone can easily see them. In addition to helping drive foot traffic to your location, monument signs are also good for helping to guide your existing customers to your business.
Recently, we received a call from the Southern California office of First Industrial Realty Trust, a leading national owner of industrial properties. They were looking to either replace their sign with a larger one, or somehow reface their existing sign to be taller, so they could provide visibility for all of their six tenants. Their original monument sign was only 3 feet tall, with room for only one tenant to be featured. Their new sign is almost twice as tall and features six slots for tenants, in addition to moving the address numbers up higher and larger for more visibility.
Below is a gallery of before and after pictures. You can see the new monument sign is larger, and much easier to see.
The challenge for this project was finding a solution that fit our client’s budget. They needed a sign that was tall enough to fit all of their tenants, but they wanted to avoid replacing the entire sign, which would have been much more expensive. Without having to dig into the ground and build a new monument sign from the ground up, we were able to more efficiently provide what they needed. However, this is often more easily said than done. We had to first research the sign ordinance for their address and find out the maximum height that would be allowed. Once we knew our limitations, we were able to get to work and start re-facing their existing monument sign.
The new monument sign features small individual signs for each business in their complex. These placards were created by printing UV laminated vinyl onto aluminum panels with rounded corners. The final result is a clean and professional looking monument sign that showcases all of their tenants nicely.
