There's a poolside bar at the Park Hyatt Resort in Carlsbad, CA, that recently received a face lift in honor of the the Pro-Am party the night before the LPGA tournament. The Park Hyatt Resort wanted a sign to welcome the event to their location, and they wanted something that really looked sophisticated and clean. The reason this particular sign needed to be so clean and elegant, was this sign was going to be the backdrop to the cocktail party that was held there.
As seen in the photo below, the group of people posing in front of the sign are having a good time. We were told later that the sign was a big hit with the crowd.
For this project, just like most others, we consulted with our client on ideas of what they wanted. They knew they wanted a frosted glass look, so we rendered a few mock ups, displaying different options in materials and finished looks. With their design, and their slogan of "Welcome to the 2013 Kia Classic," we made the sign out of cut vinyl and the result, seen in the image at the top of this article, was great. The final product looked almost exactly like the rendering, and everyone was pleased with the final result. The reflection off the granite counter seems to add another level of sophistication to the look.
Below is a 'before' picture of the bar. It's amazing what a sign can do to help brand a space and give it that high end, professional look.
