The ability to transform the atmosphere of a single room is one of the most exciting things that our latest large format printing technology allows us to do. By producing a wall mural that converted a typical industrial bathroom into a walk on the Oceanside pier, we were able to shift the atmosphere from a boring office space into a breezy relaxation room. Needless to say the palette for this job was stark, with white walls and the standard industrial restroom fixtures. Definitely in desperate need of a makeover. A (rest)Room with a View
Inspiration for this project came from the owners of North Coast Signs desire to capture the unique attributes of the Oceanside pier. Creating this relaxation room required stunning photography of various shots and perspectives of the pier, ensuring a full-fledged ocean experience. We then took the dimensions of the actual walls to be wrapped, and through the wonder of Photoshop, were able to adapt and scale each of the images to fit the designated walls with their unique ‘view’ images. In order to complete the wall graphic, many adjustments of the scale of the walls had to be made in order to create an accurate perspective.
Once designed, the images were printed using our eco-friendly HP Latex large format printer onto 3M self-adhesive vinyl. Since the latex inks contain no solvents and no VOC’s, the air in the small space was as fresh as the air on the pier (well, almost – this is a bathroom, after all…).
