Signs that your vehicle has an oil leak.

Where to start?

Your vehicle uses oil and water to cool the engine as it is a furnace in there. Oil also helps to keep the furnace lubricated so the moving parts do not melt together. Not having the correct oil or damage to seals and gaskets will cause oil leakages. To see how much oil you have in your vehicle or the condition of your oil, pull the dipstick out and it will have a measure with marks and the oil level will clearly show on it. Old oil will look dirty and have a dark color. Oil levels below the dipstick marks could cause your engine to seize. It is advisable to make sure your vehicle’s oil is always topped up and in a good condition.

How would you know your vehicle has oil problems?

Be sure to inspect your vehicle’s oil daily. If you have an oil problem, you may notice your vehicle sounding different than usual or there may be a knocking noise. Your vehicle performance might be sluggish. You might park somewhere and when walking back to your vehicle you see wetness or fluid under your vehicle. This does not come out of nowhere and so having your vehicle inspected immediately is imperative. Old oil in the engine may cause a lack of lubrication. To identify old oil, you merely need to look at it, if it is dark in color, it should have been changed already. You may also see your oil light on the vehicle dashboard staying on constantly. Book with Precision Auto Care immediately, and we will take care of it!

Why would there be no oil in my oil pan?

There are a few reasons causing your engine not to have oil in the pan. Oil leaks could be caused by bad engine seals, gaskets, deteriorated oil filters, damaged flex hoses and even problems with the belly of your oil pan.
