If you are looking for a trustworthy and reliable auto repair shop that can change your oil, then you’ve come to the right place. Here at Precision Auto Repair Shop we have been servicing vehicles for over 30 years, so we know what it takes to get the job done right.

You may not think about it, but your car needs an oil change every 3,000 miles. That’s because the oil in your engine helps lubricate and cool it. If you don’t change the oil, you’re putting yourself at risk for a breakdown and other costly repairs that can damage your engine.

Signs That Your Car Needs an Oil Change

If you can’t keep track of mileage, there are other signs that tell you when it’s time for an oil change. Here are four signs that your car needs an oil change.

  1. You Can Smell It

When your engine is running, you may notice a faint odor of burning oil. If you smell it when the engine is off, it could be something else like coolant or exhaust fumes. But if the smell is stronger and stronger as you drive, it means your engine isn’t getting enough lubrication from the oil. This means it’s time for an oil change, but also that there may be something wrong with the engine that needs to be addressed as well.

  1. The Engine Light Comes On

If your car’s check engine light comes on and stays on after you’ve driven over 50 miles (80 km), this may mean that there’s a problem with one of the sensors in your vehicle (possibly related to the oil). Have our mechanic take a look at this right away! If they can’t figure out what caused the light to come on, they’ll probably recommend changing the oil soon—which will cost less than diagnosing why it flicked on in the first place.

  1. Noisy Engine

A noisy engine can be a sign of loose parts or worn-out bearings. If you hear a grinding sound as you accelerate, it could mean that your engine is improperly lubricated. An oil change will help with this problem by adding new lubricant to your engine’s components.

  1. Sluggish Acceleration

A sluggish acceleration could mean that some of your engine’s parts are worn out. A good indication of this is if your car takes longer than usual to accelerate from 0-15 mph or 0-20 mph (depending on how fast you drive). Another sign is when you put your foot on the gas pedal and don’t feel much pressure from the engine at all — this indicates that there may not be enough lubrication in the cylinder head gasket or piston rings. An oil change will help with this problem by adding new lubricant to these areas of your engine so that it can operate correctly again!
